We at CMD are very conscious of the enormous challenge it has been for many churches to conduct their services online since late March and now the challenge continues in another form. Many church leaders need to consider how to continue providing church online whilst beginning to conduct live services on site with reduced numbers. For many this will mean that pre-recording services is not realistic and therefore they are considering running a ‘hybrid model’ or church services whereby the live service is streamed live to those at home.
We are aware of three key challenges with this shift:
- filming a live service requires different skills to filming a pre-recorded service
- pastors will (in many cases) no longer be able to manage the recording as they will need to be involved in the church services. Therefore a lay person (or persons) will need to be trained to do this
- some churches do not have suitable equipment to be able to do this
To address this challenge the Centre for Ministry Development has teamed up with the International Screen Academy and Alex Bennett to provide training for people at your church in this area. If there is a need we may also assist sourcing simple equipment.
